Yves Colinet, Managing Director, explains how Micropole Belgium is managing the current crisis related to the COVID-19 pandemic.
Summary
In a personal interview with Alain de Fooz for Solutions Magazine, Yves Colinet (Managing Director at Micropole Belgium) shared his feelings on the impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the way business is done.
How does the Managing Director of Micropole Belgium himself react to the Covid-19 pandemic?
In this personal interview with Alain de Fooz for Solutions Magazine, Yves Colinet talks openly about telecommuting, the confidence he has in his #InnovativePeople, and the surprising efficiency he's noticed since lockdown began on March 16, 2020.
MANAGEMENT
During this Skype interview, which he conducts from a small room on the second floor, Yves is calm and realistic about the latest changes the pandemic has brought.
At Micropole Belgium, everyone is faced with the same situation, teleworking is the most efficient way to go
As Managing Director, however, he feels the pressure of having employees and customers look to him for guidance and reassurance. It requires even more preparation and anticipation than before. But these efforts are paying off, according to Yves, as the days are better paced and overall more efficient.
BENEFITS
This may seem contradictory, but there are advantages. Teams are generally easier to reach and more available. It now seems easier toget to the point, whether with employees or customers.
But of course, Yves draws attention to the feeling that everyone shares:
We will certainly miss the personal contact at some point.

CONFIDENCE
Yves has noticed a real change, particularly in interpersonal relations at Micropole. There is much more sharing and listening, without necessarily entering into each other's intimacy, of course. Both the #InnovativePeople who work at Micropole and the customers are much more open and willing to express themselves about their feelings and their lives during this period of uncertainty.
Interpersonal relationships have never been more important.

Yves says he has seen a lot more trust and understanding since the pandemic hit Belgium. People are calling each other and telling each other things. They are not dithering, but moving forward and tackling the issues head on.
TELESERVICE
Yves explains with many examples how he sees teleworking in a whole new light. While Micropole Belgium had never before initiated long-distance Skype calls or organized meetings with online tools, when this crisis is over, things could change.
This way of working can even become the norm for some things!
With meetings cut in half compared to before, the agenda being followed closely and customer confidence building very quickly, it seems like the perfect time to introduce this change.
AND THE TEAM?
Yves proudly explains how his #InnovativePeople managed to adapt to these restrictions very quickly. He proudly mentions the internally created WhatsApp group, which seems to be very important for the morale of the teams at Micropole Belgium, and which provides an inviting place to share how one lives during the pandemic.
I am really impressed by our ability to adapt. It is unbelievable!
